SERIOUS LOSS OF LIFE AEROPLANES TO THE RESCUE Press Association— By Telegraph—Copyright. SAN FRANCISCO, June 29. (Received June 30, at 9.45 a.m.) A message from Los Angelos states that sixty-fivo people are known to have been killed in the South Californian earthquake, which had its centre at Santa Barbara. It is believed that at least 100 perished and that several hundreds' wore injured. Some of the finest buildings in Santa Barbara wore demolished, and the railway lines were disrupted, while communications were cut oft’., Firo has broken out and a da m burst, causing torrents of water to flood the city. The inhabitants are panic-stricken. Aeroplanes from San Francisco and elsewhere, and Red Cross trains, are rushing to the relief of the city.—A. and N.Z. Cable. REVISED CASUALTY LIST. SAN FRANCISCO, -Lino 29. (Received,Juno 30, at 10.45 a.m.) The latest earthquake casualties are eight dead and 300 injured, according to a report from Santa Barbara, when telephone communication was re-estab-lished. Tlib earlier reports, indicating great loss of life, were duo, to the. fact that over 100 persons were missing or unaccounted for during tho morning, when tho confusion was very great, making it practically impossible to check tho number of tho dead and injured.—A. and N.Z. (Received June of), at 11.15 a.m.) Santa Barbara reports that, all tho brick buildings in the town were demolished by tho earthquake which swept the- State.— Reuter.
