MEETING OF GOVERNORS. The Board of Governors of tho Otago Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools met yesterday afternoon ; present —Professor Thompson (chairman), Mrs Park, Messrs .Webb, Callaway, Stephens, and Bruch, and tho lion. l). T. !• leaning. Tile hoard resolved to tender its congratulations to Sir C. J. Pai'i' upon his being knighted. The financial statement being submitted, j (he Chairman remarked that it showed a j marked improvement. In December of I 1923 the debit balance was over £5,000;] now it was only £2,000 odd. The general | account was also in u considerably better ; position. Replying to an application for a subsidy for a. gramophone, tho Education .Department wmto that it- was a- matter for which a subsidy was not- granted. The Education Department- forwarded a circular on the subject of engaging the services of arehltests at- a, fixed annual h-e in connection with maintenance works, etc, Referred to Alandcno and Eraser, with a request that they make a proposal. The hoard authorised the lighting o! ! (he basement of the temporary class rooms) at. the girls' school. It was agreed that the Hon, H. T, Fleming and Air Sidey be requested to visit- the endowments with the ranger and report.
