SAILING ON SATURDAY

RAVENSBOURNE CLUB’S RACE. 1 EXPERIMENT IVINS. The Ravpiishourne Boating Club's second series of races was sailed on Saturday over the local eoinse. There were nine starters in the All-comers' Yacht Race—namely. Shadow, Eileen, Winifred, Mona, Mavis. Seagull, Experiment, Arama, and Arainii. A good south-west '••ind was blowing, and a start was made at 3 p.m. Shadow, Eileen, and Winifred crossed the line first, .and were closely followed by Hie rest, with the exception of Mavis, which heat the gun and had to return. Shadow had a lend of about 2min on the heat up to the Three Lees, followed by Eileen and Winifred. Mona and Mavis were some 2min behind. On the run down to Challis’s buoy Shadow, Eileen and Winifred made a pretty lengthy gap. Shadow was the first to round Challis's buoy, and was followed by Eileen and Winifred Imin Infer. Then came Mavis, Experiment, and Seagull. Mona having retired at this stage returned to Macdonald’s Bay. On the beat hack to the, Three Legs Shallow continued to increase her lend from Eileen and Winifred, rounding the Three Legs about 4min before the others. Experiment was placed first on her handicap.
