He suggested that steps be taken lo( have a, new fence erected, and that the School Committee bo asked if it would contribute to tho cost. Rclerred to committee to ascertain what financial assistance could be made.

The High Street Committee made application for the kalsomining of the walls of the school. The architect recommended tho expenditure of £25 in brushing down /nd patching the walls, but that nothing more bo dune this season. Hie committee made application for repairs to the surface of plavground. ‘I ho architect reported that the portio i from which buildings were removed would be asphalted' as part of tho work now in hand. Patching mid top-dressing the remainder of the ground would cost about £45, and the committee should contribute one-third of tho cost. —Applications granted. The department wrote asking that, in view of the fact that the Waitaki High School Board would shortly bo taking over tho work of tho manual training Oamaru, tho board transfer to tho Waitaki High Schools’ Board flic apparatus mid equipment in the present manual training centre and at the Middle School.'—The Chairman said that the department was making a great mistake in the way it had been conducting the whole junior high school business in Oamaru. An application was made from tho Palmerston Committee for subsidy in connection with improvements being made to the school grounds.-—lt was decided to make a favorable recommendation to tho department, and to inform tho. committee that the board world grant up to one-third of the cost, its liability being limited to £9O.
