DREADED MALARIA
A REPORTED CURE. TAMPICO (Mexico), November 24. A malaria cure is believed to have been discovered by Dr George Hooper. A drug called raercurochrono, or red aniline dye, has been employed successfully in numerous cases. When it was first administered in chronic cases in September a marked improvement was noted in forty-eight hours. An instance is recorded where forty injections of quinine were administered with little noticeable effect, while the disease disappeared after a single day’s treatment by mercurochrone. Dr Hooper and other physicians refuse to deny or confirm the discovery, saying that it is a matter for the medical academies to announce first; but it is definitely known that it has been used successfully for several months.
