The November meeting of the South Otago District Lodge was presided over by D.D.G. Master Bra. C. Bolton, when there was a good attendance of representatives from all lodges. Degree Master Bro. MAN. Glover conferred the third degree on five brothers. The remits for tho Grand Lodge session to be held next March were disscussed. The. decision of the judges on the initiation competition was received, and Unity Lodge was declared the winners of the. cup. The judges spoke of the very high standard of the initiation ceremony, ns carried out by all the lodges, after which Y.G. Bro. Milne, of Unity Lodge, was presented with the cup by the U.DAL Master. Congratulations were also extended to Unity Lodge from the other lodges. Bro. Milne suitably responded. The first nominations of officers for the next term were received. This being the last meeting for the. year, the season’s greetings were extended to the D.D.G. Master and family, who reciprocated the same to all present. At the fortnightly meeting of Unity Lodge Noble Grand Bro. L. Hall presided. Two candidates wore admitted to membership. The visitors included Bro. Richardson, of Hakatere Lodge. Ashburton. The report of the judges on the initiation competition was received, and congratulations were extended to. Unity Lodge on winning the cup. It was resolved to hold the quarterly card tournament next meeting. The toast to visitors was responded lo'bv P.D.D.G. Master Bro. Kilpatrick, P.G. Bro. Robinson. Bro. Wise, and Bro. Richardson (Ashburton). Leith Lodge was “ at homo ” to the officers and members of Loyal Valley Lodee, M.U., at last meeting, the occasion bcin'o 'the periodical card tourney for (he shield presented by Bros. Tonkinson and Wood, M.U. The Noble Grand of Leith welcomed visiting brethren, after wbkh the games commenced, a.rid continued until 9.30. At the count it was discovered that each lodge had fourteen wins to its credit, SO it was decided to play another game at each table. The recount disclosed Leith the winners. Supper was handed round at tho conclusion of the tourney, aftei which speeches of congratulation and good wishes were tendered and reciprocated. N.G. Bm. W. Holly presided oyer a rood attendance of member of Kensington Juvenile, Lodge, held on Saturday night. KCt Bro. Lorimer and members of gale'Lodge paid an official visit Ibo business of the. evening included the election of officers for the next term, and the following brothers were elected : S.G., Mi-o. Bingham: V.G., Bro. Burns; Con., Bro. Paterson; Warden, Bro. Win ton; Chaplain. Bro. Neilson; Rec. Secretary, Rio‘ J .Scott; Inner Guard, Bro, U. NicholD The toast of the visitors was responded to bv President Bro. Brandon of High gale Lodge. A proposal to hold a picnic for juvenile members of both lodges was favorably received, and a committee was set up to make arrangements to hold same in February Bro. Winder, of Linden Lodge, was appointed secretary.
