The directors of the Pacific Preserving Company .state in the annual report That the flotation of the new company was unfortunately accomplished too, late to allow the factory to operate to any large extent during tho packing season. The conditions in ’the preserving industry during tho year were of such a nature as, together with other disabilities that were experienced, to preclude the possibility of tho company showing a good -financial result. The shares allotted other than those to the vendor shareholders (6,900) amount to 10,113, leaving 7,987 .unallotted at the date of the balance, when calls aggregating £1,780 12s were unpaid. As the new capital did not commence to he available until late in the season, the general operations of the 'factory were curtailed considerably, and these conditions resulted in a loss, but towards the latter part of the year the demand for the company’s lines showed an increased popularity, and tho general lone of the business much improved.
