A PRISONER ESCAPES
JUMPS FROM TRAIN. [Peb United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, December 6. A prisoner named Lander, who was flip morning under escort on the Main Trunk railway to Mount Eden .uu>:, made a sensational escape. When the train was near Te Kauwhata he '■■shed from the carriage and jumped from the platform while the train was going at forty miles an hour. At Te Kauwhata the train stopped, and one of the warders organised a search party, which returned to the scene of the escape, but it is not yet reported whether the man ■was found.
