CHAMBER MUSIC RECITAL
Next Wednesday evening, in Burns Hall, music-lovers will again have an opportunity of listening to a reeieal of chamber music. Air Chas. A. Alartiu has arranged another excellent pro* gramme. An intern of special interest will bo tho trio in F minor by Devorak, which will ho played by Messrs G. A. Alartiu (piano), J. A. Wallace (violin), and Trevor do Clive Lowe (’cello). This trio is one of the great works of the Bohemian composer, and although it is not based entirely on folk songs, Devorak displays great ingenuity in creating ne\y Slavonic tunes in tho mould of the folk songs. Tho string quartet which be played at this recital is Haydn's in C, known as ‘ The Emperor.’ Alessrs AVallace and Sehvyn do Clive Low (violins), R. Pcllitt (viola), and Trevor de Clive Low (’cello) constitute the quartet, and they produce an excellent ensemble. Airs Sstley Black", well known to Dunedin audiences, will sing ‘ Dcpius le Jour,’ from Charpentier’s opera ‘Louise,’ and ‘The AVillow,’ by lire English composer Goring Thomas. Tho box plan will he opened at The Bristol on Alonday morning.
