TAIERI RIVER TRUST
ENGINEER'S REPORT. The report of. the engineer of tho Taieri River Trust (.Mr B. R. Couston) for the month of November is as follows: The West Taieri workmen have completed the clearing of Spences .drain, Beattie’s and M‘Bend's drain, Waughs drain, and Amos drain. Part of the upper contour, channel has also been cleared. The men are now working on the crosscut drain, and when that work is completed will proceed with the clearing of Lee Creek. The Maungatua workmen have raised the. lake bank as far a§ the Henley road, and are now engaged clearing A drain. One man has the month on tile river embankment. The section of the embankment above Momona is not a credit to the trust. The gorse has been cleared from the freehold land, but there are places where the river lias changed its course, and the old bed is regarded as “ No Men’s Land,” and the gorse allowed to grow and the rabbits to shelter there. 1 have asked the city electrical engineer to look into the question of providing power for working Patrick’s pump.
