PAINT AND POWDER
VICAR’S CONDEMNATION. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, December 4. (Received December 5, at 9 a.m.) “ Bless . their dear hearts; I am no ■woman hater,” writes the Rev. Wellesley 0;r, vicar of Kingstou-upon-Hull, in the ‘Daily Mail,’ replying to accusations arising out of Iris condemnation of women’s paint and powder. “It is because wo don’t hate them that we dislike seeing them spoiling God’s gift of natural beauty by artificial aids. There is nothing on earth more pleasing than a beautiful woman, and nothing more hideous than a woman disfigured by paint and powder inartistically applied. Some women are constantly changing their appearance, and husbands live in dread of arrest for bigamy. Many women, and also men, would be far better looking if they used Nature’s face cream—namely, water.”.—Sydney * Sun ’ Cable.
