Several pedestrians in Karangahape road Auckland) had a narrow escape yesterday, when old brickwork weighing several hundredweight _ collapsed _ from a wall of premises in which alterations were being made, crashing on the scaffolding erected over the street. Four workmen on tho scaffolding were carried on it to the ground, a distance of Bft. One woman who was underneath was struck by the timber, but was not seriously injured. Two children had a narrow escape, receiving minor cuts and bruises. The workmen were uninjured.
