The opening of the eleventh International Co-operative Congress was attended by 500 representatives of European countries. M. Goedhart (Holland), who was elected chairman, appealed to all peoples for an extension of co-operative institutions. He announced that a meeting would be held in Rome for the purpose of creating a great international co-opera-tive bank,'with a view to fighting high finance with its alleged anti-co-operative tendencies.— A. and N.Z.
