A big benefit matinee will be givert in the Princess Theatre io-morrow afternoon at 2.15, by kind permission of John Fuller and Sons, Ltd., in aid of the above home. This home provides for the temporary care of children of sick mothers who may be in hospital or elsewhere. _ It is undenominational and no deserving case is ever turned away. The homo is charmingly situated at 253 Kenmure road, Mornington, and during the four and ahalf years which It has been opened has cared for hundreds of children. The following urgent case is one of many:—lt was sent by Ensign Coombos at 1 p.m. on a Saturday to Mr Dunkley (manager of the home). The mother was ordered into hospital by the doctor at once. There are two children, with no relatives in Dunedin. The rest home being full they had to board out. This was all arranged by 3 o’clock. 'Die mother was relieved of her anxiety, and is now very grateful for the assistance rendered. The work is supported by the parents or relatives of the children, on whom a small charge is made if they are m a position to pay, by Masonic lodges, business firms, and the public generally, to whom special appeals are made at different times. . ... , A pleasant opportunity of assisting tho work of the home will bo afforded tho public to-morrow afternoon.
