RADIO ASSOCIATION
MONTHLY MEETING. Mr R. C. Jones presided at the monthly meeting of the Otago Radio Association. Four new members were elected and two resignations were accepted. Accounts amounting to £l9 11s 9d wore) passed for payment. A letter was received from Mr E. A. Adams, 16 Sandringham street, St. Glair, enclosing £5 to assist the association in broadcasting.—The letter was received with thanks, tho chairman expressing pleasure that tho association’s concerts were appreciated by listeners-ia. Reports of successful reception of 4AB’s transmissions were received from Bussell (Bay of 1 stands |, Upper Moutero (Nelson), Green Island, and St. Leonards, and local amateurs, the letters stating that of late tho concerts had been a considerable improvement on previous transmissions. Mr H. E. Barth also took the opportunity of congratulating the Broadcasting Committee on the excellence of the transmissions.
The City Electrical Engineer, Dunedin, wrote stating that the new generator wasnow in operation at Waipori Falls, and the restrictions under which the association’s application for a 1 h.p. motor had been accepted had been removed, and it was now at liberty to use the motor at any hour.—Tho letter was received. At the conclusion of tho business portion of the meeting Mr Cooper gave an interesting address on ‘'Wireless Topics,’ dealing with aerial and earth wires, crystal and valve sets. “A” and “B” batteries, tuning coils, valves, condensers, and other wireless apparatus. * The address was appreciated by both amateur and advanced enthusiasts, A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Cooper.
