CAIRO, August IS. Tho British High Commissioner (Viscount A lien by) strongly protested to the Egyptian Acting Prime Minister against the inaccurate and misleading nature of a statement which was issued to-day by tho Egyptian Ministry reflecting its views on the events in the Sudan, Tins statement has caused indignation in British official circles because it imputes to the British troops the responsibility for the filing at Atbara.

A communique has been issued stating that the _ Egyptian Government has instructed its Minister in London to lodge a protest with the British Government against tho measures taken in the Sudan, and to urge the immediate establishment of an Egyptian-Sudanese Commission to examine the situation and fix the rosponsj-' bility and take steps to calm public feeling so as _to avoid, further bloodshedThe Egyptian Government Las also requested the Governor-General of the .Sudan to supply detailed information regarding the incidents and tho reasons for them, and tho measures taken.
