A gigantic scheme involving an expenditure of £160,000,000 is proposed by the New York Transit Commission in the hope of solving the terrific problem presented by the congestion of traffic. It is proposed to build a railway system designed exclusively for suburban people within a radius of forty miles of New York City. At present these people arc all unloaded at the Croat Trunk railway stations, making the congestion intolerable. The construction ol two new “super-streets” with three levels is suggested—an upper one for the light traffic, a second one helow the surface for commercial traffic, and the lowest for the loop train service.
