ST. JOHN’S, ROSLYN

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of St. John's Church, Eoslyn, was held in the parish hall last evening, there being an excellent attendance of parishioners, over which the Ven. Archdeacon - ' Fitohett presided. Reports were submitted by the Vestry and the vicar, the events of the past, year, stating, inter alia, that the accounts this year were very satisfactory, there being a substantial credit balance of £92 17s lOd; the improved financial position being due in a largo measure to the guilds and lady workers and to the excellent work of the treasurer (Mr J. West).

The statement of accounts, together with the reports, were adopted on the motion of the vicar, seconded by Mr J. Simpson, who made an interesting comparison of the results, and emphasising the necessity of repairs to J2ie Church of the Good Shepherd and the need of creating a sinking fund for replacing buildings. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:—Vicar’s churchwarden, Mr 11. 0. Carter; parishioners’ churchwarden, Mr J. Simpson; vestry —Messrs P. M. Allan, E. H. Allen, R. R. Aspinall, N. H. Browne, J. G. Butler, J. Brook, W. J. Davie, J. H. Wilson, J. L. G. Wilson, A. 0. Buchler; treasurer, Mr Joseph West; auditors, Messrs W. Dawson and E. Moir. Considerable discussion took place as to the desirability of hurrying on tho rebuilding of the vicarage, and a committee was appointed to report on the question in the near future.

After the statutory meeting the. balance of the evening was spent in social intercourse, during which musical items were contributed by Misses Chapman and_ Inglis and a quartet party comprising .Misses Chapman and Dale, Messrs Davie and Josland.
