ALIEN PROPERTY

AMERICAN CUSTODIAN’S SUGGESTION. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright WASHINGTON, January 13. The Custodian of Alien Property (Mr Miller) has recommended to President Coolidge the immediate creation of a huge Federal corporation, financed with alien property Hinds, to effect a revival of trade between the United States and the former enemy Powers. Mr Miller stated that there was available for this purpose 180,000,000 dollars.

Tho Custodian believes that this would not only restore trade relations, but would develop a surplus which would assure Germany’s liquidation of all legitimate American claims and eventually enable the United States to return the original funds intact to their rightful alien owners, thus avoiding tho confiscation of enemy property. Meanwhile the Custodian favors the utilisation of the sum as credits for German firms which lost property hero through war seizures.—A. and N.Z. Gable.
