THE STOLEN NECKLACE
STAGE DANCER ARRESTED,
LONDON, July 12.
A beautiful young dancer, Clothilde Chaigneau, better known by her stage name of Clo D’Orlys, lias been arrested in connection with the mysterious disappearance of a diamond necklace worth £IO,OOO, belonging to a British visitor, Mrs Fcilding (says the Paris' correspondent of the ‘Daily Mail ’). On leaving a music hall, Mrs Fcilding missed a bag containing jewels. It was later handed back to her, with the necklace. missing.
According to the police, Mile Chaigncau said that Hie necklace, cut in two, was handed to her by an unknown man. Intending later to return the stones, and so obtain"a good reward, she buried them in the Bois do Boulogne. The police dug them up, but found that three of the most valuable gems were missing. They are now r searching for the mysterious man in the. case.
