DEATH OF MR H. E. SHACKLOCK
The flag at half-mast over the foundry of Shaddock, Limited, Princes street south, and the closing of the works for the day were the means of spreading abroad the nows that Mr Henry Ely Shaddock died this morning, lie was taken with a touch of influenza on Saturday morning. The matter was not supposed to be very serious, but to bo on the safe side a doctor was consulted and the patient was put to bed. Nobody thought of anything to give occasion for worry, and it was thor.eforo a staggering shock to find, between 4 and 5 o’clock this morning, that Mr Shaddock had quietly died in his sleep, the cause being a heart seizure. In the absence of his brother, Mr J. B. Shaddock, who has just readied London, the leadership in the firm was taken over by the deceased. His wife and daughter may bo assured of the deep sympathy of the community.
