i. .*6* i - MISHAP TO IRON PRINCE. [Per United Press Association.] ■WELLINGTON, April 19. Advice has been received by the Secretary of the Post Office from the Awarua and Awanui wireless stations to the eifect that the steamer Iron Prince went aground at 3.27 o’clock on Capo Howe, on the Australian coast. The message stated that No. 2 hold was flooded, and that the water in No. I hold was being kept under control by the ship’s pumps. The Iron Prince was reported to bo in no immediate danger. . Further advice from the Iron Prince states that she is fast ashore amidships. There is a rising southerly swell, but the vessel is making no wafer, rlie message concludes that 'an endeavor will be made to refloat the vessel at high water about 10 o’clock. The Iron Prince is a steel screw steamer of a gross tonnage of 5,116. She was built by Russell ‘and Co., Glasgow, for the Broken Hill Proprietary Co., Ltd. IN PRECARIOUS POSITION. STEAMERS STANDING BY. SYDNEY, April 20. Received April 20, at noon. The steamer Iron Prince, of 3,115 tons, with a cargo of limestone for the Broken Hill Proprietory Company, valued at £20,000, went ashore on a reef in thick weather near Cane Howe. Her holds are full of water, and the ship is bumping badly. Her position is precarious, and it is feared she will become a total loss. The crew and relief steamers are standing by.
