Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright
PEKING, April 17. At Amoy all business was suspended for the day as a protest against the Japanese refusal to accede to China’s request for the abrogation of the Twenty-one Demands (secretly made during the Great War). Twenty thousand persons paraded. Tire Japanese ships were unable to load cargoes. The Chinese merchants refuse to deal with the Japanese Bank.
Similar conditions exist at Swatow and other ports.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
