TECHNICAL COLLEGE MANAGERS
MONTHLY MEETING. Tho monthly meeting of the Board' of Managers of tho King Edward Technical College was held yesterday afternoon; present —Mr T. Scott (chairman), Mrs Gumming, Miss Euncimnn, Messrs J. Wallace, G-. Clark, E. A. Rosevear, J. H. Wilkinson. I). Laninch, E. P. Duthie, J. Haymes, H. H. 8, White, J. Horn, M.P., and the mayor (Mr J. S. Douglas). DIRECTOR’S REPORT. Tho director’s report was as follows; Tho attendance at the Technical High School and also at the technical classes continues to be maintained, whilst the roll number for the School of Art is gradually increasing. This year students have been greatly hampered by tho failure in the supply of text books for class use. and it seems to me that the time is fast approaching when the board should consider tho advisability of either arranging for one firm to become responsible for the supply of books required or import direct from the publishers and retail to the students, which is tho system adopted in the other largo technical colleges. The building operations now being undertaken will necessitate the removal of the wooden hutment on the site, and I have authorised Mr Fletcher to dispose of it by tender. Some time ago the board' authorised tho purchase of a projecting lantern of the kinema typo, at a cost not exceeding £IOO. Having made inquiries, I now ask for a variation in the terms of the permission given.
Tho report was adopted, and permission given the director to eliminate the word kinema in the last clause. GENERAL.
