Owing to overproduction in tho absence of an export, trade poultry-keepers are not getting payable prices for their eggs at present. This is having tho effect that numbers find it necessary to reduce their live stock. It is stated that fewer chicks have been -hatched on manv farms this season, and the result will be that fresh eggs vvill not be plentiful in the coming winter, as the supply comes mainly from pullets. On present appearances it would seem a good plan for housewives to secure supplies of eggs for preserving when eggs are still cheap. They have not been retailing at such low prices a.s now during the past eight years.
