THE ANNUAL MEETING. SHOW DATES ALLOTTED. Mr G. E. Jeffreys presided) last night at the annual meeting of the South island Poultry Association. Delegates were present from various parts of the island. The President congratulated the conference on its excellent representation, very few societies having failed to send a delegate. Application was made from Christchurch for the affiliation of the New Zealand Bantam Club. —Granted. The President congratulated the New Zealand Poultry Association on its good work. The President, before submitting the annual report and balance-sheet, stated that the association had suffered great loss in the coiiitkraedi illness of Air J. H. Shan cl, tho secretary. Air R. Pearce (Christchurch) had taken up the work, and all through: the- year he had acted as secretary and had (lone excellent work. Ha congratulated Mr Pearce on the splendid service he had rendered. Mr Carol in moved that tho association extend its sympathy to Air Shand 1 and express Die hope that ho would soon be restored to ’health. The annual report stated that twentyfive clubs were now affiliated. Reference was made to the visit of Air C. A. House, who had come to New Zealand, and haddone great service to the fancy. Tho championship winners were enumerated. Congratulations were extended to Air W. A. Suvman, who had returned) from Canada, and had brought lifty-one high-class pedigree birds. Regret was expressed at the loss bv death of Mr H. Hunt and Air T. Lccdham, both, of whom wore widely known and respected. The balance-sheet showed receipts £302 12s 6d and expenditure 151 Os 6d, leaving a balance in hand of £lsl 12s. , , In moving the adoption of the report, the President urged all societies to push the art union. Tho societies that held the most successful shows were those* that hadpromoted active sales of .art union tickets. The balance-sheet and report were adopted. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows -President, Mr G. E. Jeffreys (re-elected); councillors —Alcssrs Tindall, AFHarg, Johnston, Wilson, and Beardsley; auditor, Air J. B- Merrettj secretary and treasurer, Air J- H. Shaw. _ It was decided that an art union, permit be asked 1 for 1925. It was resolved that young bird shows may allot provincial championships, but the association cannot give the championships. It was also resolved that all dubs that do not publish the names of financial members in catalogue send a list of members before the date of their shows. Tho following show' dates were allotted : Christchurch, June 7,8, and 9; Dunedin, June 14, 15, and 16; Ashburton, Juno 22 and 23 ; Ra-ngiora, July 6 and 7; Oaraaru, July 13 and 14: Lyttelton, July 20 and 21; AVaimate, held over; Kaitangata, January 20 and 25; Tapanui, July 5; Heriot. Ju.no 23; Taieri, Juno 22 and 23 ; Balcmtha, July 21; Invercargill, June 29 and 50; Dunedin and l Christchurch Young Bird Show, March 23 and 24; Waimangaroa, Juno 15 and 16; Westport, June 29 and 30; Gnanity, _July 13 and 14. _ A very comprehensive list of championships was allotted, almost every breed of poultry being catered for. The Victory Shield was allotted to Invercargill. It was suggested: that the next annual meeting be held at Westport. The revised rules were duly considered and approved. General’business was discussed and* matters of minor importance were loft to the council.
