CRICKET. Rain delayed the commencement of the Hawke Cup match, at Wanganui yesterday between South, Taranaki (challengers) and Wanganui. The visitors hatted first on an easy wicket, and scored 112, Smith (55) and Becchey (27) being the principal scorers. Holland bowled in fine form, taking all ten 1 wickets for 35 runs in twenty - one overs, twelve of which were maidens. Ho received an ovation for his splendid performance. When stumps were drawn 'Wanganui had lost one wicket for 85. JUNIOR TENNIS. The tennis tournament of the Junior Association was concluded on the Moana Courts yesterday afternoon. The Senior Handicap Singles event was won by Miss Doris Manchester,_ of Columba College, the runner-up being bliss No rail Moloney, of Archerfield College. Miss Manchester was down 14 at the fifth pamo and 4-5 at the ninth game. She secured the tenth game after deuce had been caller! four times, and won the last game 40-15. The Senior Handicap Doubles was won by Mieses D. Horrell and D. Manchester, of Columba College, with their schoolmates (Misses G. Manchester and At. M'Leod) runners-up. The games were even at the sixth and- tenth games, after which Misses Horrell and Manchester took control, and won the two remaining games and the event.
