PIGEON FLIGHTS
The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew a flock race from Tailiane last week-end, an airline distance of 520 miles, in fine weather. The birds were not liberated till 8 a.m. ; otherwise they would have been home on the day, the' winning bird timing in at 6.35 next morning. This is the fastest time that has been put up from Taihape, which has always proved a hard fly. The birds were liberated by the station master, with the following result:—P. Jones’s Vanity (15h 42mm) 1, H. Lambeth’s Kelson Maid; (Jsh 41min) 2, A. Stevenson’s Dunbroon (19h 24min) 3, T. Brown's Simplex (24h 25min) 4. Birds entered by Messrs W. Esquilant, A. Eraser, anil T. Veitoh also flew.
