PLAYERS ENTERTAINED, The Lnveroargiil Marist Brothers’ School Rugbv football players were entertained by tho Christian Brothers in the local school hall on Saturday evening. Among the guests were a number of representatives of the various sporting bodies. At intervals during the evening Master Simmons gave a violin solo, Master Richards a song, and Master Frank Foster a recitation. PIGEON FLIGHTS. Tho Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew its opening race of the 1922-23 season on Saturday with an interval race from Oamaru, an air-lino distance of fifty-nine miles, in fair weather. The birds put up a good fly for their first race, tho winning Bird flying the distance in Ih ISjjmin. Mr W. Turvey liberated thirteen pens, representing tliirteen lofts. Result:—S.
