At the meeting of tho N.Z.F.A. held last week an appeal from the Morningi.cn Chib against the Otago Association’s decision to play the. Mornington v. Taieri match later in the season, if necessary, was considered. The facts were that the weather was bad, and tho Otago Association had decided that all senior matches should bo played. Tho Morn-ington Club claimed a win by default. Tho Taieri Club did not, turn up because they hr-' been unofficially informed that all mat cb were off. The. appeal was upheld, a the match was awarded to the Morningtc., Club, who will now become premiers lev the season. MORNINGTON v. SEACLIFF. Play in this game at Seacliff was_ very even throughout the first spell. Walker scored for Mornington. In the second spell Newman scored for Mornington, and just on the call of time Campbell scored for .Seacliff. Tho game ended Mornington 2 Seacliff 1 KAFTANGATA BEATS NORTHERN. This match was played hi fine weather before 609 spectators. Northern kicked off facing the sun, and made a rapid incursion into Kaitangata territory, but a goal kick cleared. Play was fairly even, and both teams showed first-class combination. A good opening for Kaitangata was spoiled, Dunn being off-side. Robinson sent out to Bennie, who opened the scoring with a beautiful low shot, Kaitangata attacked keenly, hut the Northern defence was good. The second spell was fast right from tho start, both teams endeavoring hard to score. From a combined forward movement Euddiman’s fast, shot struck tho upright. From a melee in the Kaitangata goal-mouth Thomson ran out -to clear, and Gormack netted into the open goal. Play continued keen, and from some excellent play by the Kaitangata forwards Robinson headed through. Northern tried hard to level the scores, but tho defence was too solid. Final : Kaitangata 2 Northern ... 1 Y.M.C.A. v. OLD BOYS. This match was played at the Oval under excellent conditions. The general play was of a slow and very ordinary nature. Y.M.C.A. kicked off facing the sun,' and the Y.M. goalie soon had a busy time of it saving. Shortly after Beaker got a nasty smash in goal, but recovered. The play was moving slowly up and down tho field. . Allan got out-run, and Stubbs neatly scored. Y.M.C.A. 1, Old Boys 0. Old Boys assumed control again, and several weak shots went to the Y.M.C.A. goalie, Harvey and Stubbs, tho Y.M. hacks, were nippy in defence, but did not have a hard job in breaking up tho Old Boys, forwards frequently. Old Boys pressed keenly for a goal, and several interesting scrambles occurred in tho vicinity of the Y.M, goal, but without results for Old Boys. Harvey played a fairly safe game for Y.M. Old Roys pressed again on resumption, but the Y.M. backs were still defending well. The play was carried up and down field for a considerable time, until Scotty Fraser accounted fot Harvey and Stubbs and scored. Old Boys 1, Y.M.C.A. 1. From this on Old Boys had slightly tho better of the play, but for such a seasoned team their exhibition was poor. Old Boys 1 Y.M.C.A. ... - 1 Mr Storey was the referee. SOUTHERN v. TAIERI.

Southern met Taieri at Culling Park before a small number of spectators. Taieri won the toss, and Southern kicked off against the sun. Blues were aggressive from the start, and forced three corners in succession, which, though well taken, proved resultless. They continued to attack, and a good shot by A. Jeffrey went just outside. Then Southern had a turn, and Mantoll being drawn out of goal Ferguson shot •into the net. Southern 1, Taieri_ 0. Southern now had a turn at attacking, and kept the Blues’ backs busy. They were equal to their task of keeping Southern out. M'Lean, on Taieri’s left wing, broke away and sent in a strong shot, which Scott saved well. _ Immediately after Mantell saved brilliantly a stinging shot from the Southern centre. Even play followed, both sides attacking in turn. From a free kick well taken by M'Lean, Hanlin shot, but Scott saved at the expense of a corner. The Blues kept at it, M'Lean, D. Karlin, and M'Cloy being prominent. A long shot by the Taieri centre-half was saved by Scott, but he dropped the Iball, and Wright following up fast drove it into the net. Halftime was sounded a moment later with the score,:— Southern 1 Taieri 1 The second spell opened quietly. Play was in midfield for some time, and was rather uninteresting to watch. Taieri livened up, and a shot from M'Cloy went near scoring. A penalty against Taieri was taken by Jones, and he put Southern in the lead with a fast shot which found the net. Southern 2, Taieri 1. Southern kept up a hot attack, and D. Hill scored. Southern 3, Taieri 1. The Reds continued to have the better of the game. Hill was prominent for good work on the wing.
