FORTY-FOUR YEARS AGO
We arc informed that no clergyman has yet been appointed to the vacant cure of All Saints’, Dunedin. The nominators have been for some months endeavoring to obtain a suitable successor to the Rev. R. L. Stanford, but have faded to obtain one, though they have made numerous inquiries in Xew Zealand, Australia, and Tasmania. It has therefore been thought’ advisable to telegraph to Mr J. M. Ritchie to engage one in England. Arrangements have been made with the Rev. Lorenzo Moore to take the supervision of the parish from October 1 next fill the arrival of the clergyman from England. It * # « The bursting-up process continues to go on voluntarily. Mr Studholme is cutting up his Waimate runs for sale as small farms, and his example is likely to ‘he followed by Messrs Mgclean and Tcschemaker. As evidencing the value of land at Waimate, the ‘Mail’ mentions that £27 an acre has been refused for a 20-acre block that was purchased not long since at £l7 an acre. * » # # Mr G. D.
