TRAGEDY AT ANDERSON BAY
DEPRESSION LEADS TO SUICIDE. A sad hanging tragedy occurred yesterday afternoon at Bayfield, Anderson Bay. The body of Nora Dunlop, aged thirty-six years, who lived with ihcr husband and five children in Arawa street, was found hanging in a stable attached to the premises. An inquest on the body was held at the house in tho afternoon before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M. Evidence was given by the,husband, James Dunlop, who said deceased had been in ill-health for about twelve months. She •was in a depressed condition, and had been attended by Dr Fitchett. He took her away for a holiday, and on return she was" improved in health, but again became depressed. Isabel Kathleen Irvine, nurse, said deceased left her yesterday morning, stating that she was going upstairs. Shortly afterwards she was missed, and on search being made was found by her husband hanging by a rope from a rafter in the loft of a stable. Dr Fitchett gave evidence of having been called to tho house. Deceased was dead before he arrived. The coroner’s finding was suicide by hanging while deceased was of unsound mind.
