The effect of the policy as it ia expected! to work out during the current year is shown in the summary of estimated expenditure. Heavier interest charges are responsible for an increase of £152,528 in the permanent appropriation, but there is a drop of £919,393 in the total departmental votes compared with the actual expenditure last year:
