NO MORE WAR DEMONSTRATION.
TO THE EDITOE. Sir,—l was present at Tuesday’s “no-more-war” demonstration, and after reading various comments in the Press, I suggest that a little reflection is not out of place. In a little book called 1 The Magic Flute,’ a wellknown writer on social subjects, G. Lowes Dickinson, points out that it is possible for human beings to commit errors of judgment which involve them in conduct inferior to that of cannibals. He says, in effect, that while cannibals take life, they do so to get food, and are therefore more to be excused than people who take human life without having tho excuse that they are hungry. Listening to the speaker, I gathered that ho meant to point out that we had something to learn from savages and the lower animals. In Kropotkin’s ‘ Mutual Aid ’ there are numerous examples to support this contention.—l am., etc., Common Sense. August 12.
