WHEAT POOL PAYMENTS.

SYDNEY, August 11 (Received August 11, at noon.)

In consequence of Mr Ch-affey’s announcement that the Government would nob pay compensation to fanners in the 1916-17 pool, Mr Brnxner waited on Sir George Fuller, and intimated that the Country Parly would oppose tho Government _on the floor of Parliament unless its promises were redeemed. Sir George gave an assurance that the Government would honor all its obligations. Mr Chaffey subsequently stated that compensation would be paid in all cases where 1 the farmers did not participate in over-payments which totalled an excess of £700,000.
