NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY A, DOBSON. Tho Now Zealai/d Gun. Clubs' Association's olay bird shooting match for tho championship of Now Zealand took place on Tahuna Park to-day. Shooting commenced at 11 a.m., and concluded about 1.30 p.m. Tho weather was fine and the .light good. The light breeze had little effect upon tho pigeons when released from tho trap. The shooting was, on tho whole, very creditable. There were twenty competitors, representing the various gun clubs from. Auckland, Palmerston North. Napier, Canterbury, Southland, and Otago. Each competitor shot from, the 18yds mark, and the number of birds fired at was twenty : onc. The winner was Mr A. Dobson, of the Auckland Gun Club, who secured twenty 1 hits, which, is considered an excellent performance. Mr Dobson has been shooting very consistently for' the past two or three years. Ho has won tho Auckland' Club’s championship for tho last two veal’s, and also carried off tho Now Zealand championship for live pigeon and sparrow shooting host. year. Mr F. W. Peck (Auckland Giui Club) and Mr G. E. Turner (Dunedin Gun Club) tied for second place with 19 birds each, and they divide the .second and third prize money. The Auckland representatives were well to the front, Mr L. P. Hughes securing 18 birds. Mr T. Parker (Napier) and J. 0. Orlowski (Dunedin) also put up a creditable performance with 18 birds each. Mr Dobson takes the championship gold medal, valued at £lO, and 60 per cent, of the net amount of tho sweepstake. Voice (Christchurch), Flondell, Macauley, and Taylor (Southland), Clinch (Aupldand), and F. G. Framptou (Christchurch) retired after making four or more misses.

Another clay bird handicap sweepstake was held at Tahuna. Park yesterday afternoon under the auspices of the New Zealand Gun Club Association. The match was of fifteen birds, and resulted in E.
