ANNUAL MEETING OP DELEGATES. The first meeting of delegates from clubs for the 1922-aj season was held in the Giramber of Commerce Room, Express Company s Buildings, on Saturday night. Mr I. A. i’oters (chairman of tho centre presided). He welcomed tno new delegates, witn t-ne old, and lormally moved t-lia reception of tne outgoing executive s reports and statement of receipts and expenditure. —This was agreed to. the election of officers was proceeded with immediately. The results were that Mr W. Jaconsen was elected chairman; Mr W. Connor was chosen as vice-president; Mr F. J. Campbell as treasurer; Messrs J. A. MKiuncni and G. It. Smith as auuitors; and messrs W. ii. Fiddington, W. mfiler, W. T. Honagliau, A. MTlemne, A. J. Sullivan, A. Smeliie, and It. H. Todd as committee.

When Mr E. Falconer's notice of motion to the effect that players should be graded came on tor consideration quite a variety of ideas were in evidence. Mr C. It. Smith wished to move that discussion should bo postponed to a iuturo occasion, as clubs had not had sufficient opportunity to consider the matter lully. Objection was taken to any interference with tho discussion of Mr Falconer s motion, of which due notice had been given. When Mr Falconer got a chance to talk about his motion he told Ins hearers of iiow bowlers in the northern cities regarded with favor the grading system. C. Itigby (iNorth-east Valley) said that his club lavored the principle of grading. Foster (Caledonian) saw difficulties if the players were cut up into A and is grades. The majority of his club were satisfied with the present position.— Air G. bmipson (Kosiyn) said that the reeling in his duo was strongly against grading. He opposed any postponement, thinking that tue meeting should deal with it right off.— Air W. G. Hay said that ho was opposed to the principle of grading, and lie thought that n the amendment to dcler consideration was carried it would signify approval of that principle. Dissatisfaction had been' expressed with the lour-rink championship competition, and he went on to discuss motions that were to bo considered later on. Though his remarks seemed to be off the rails at times, ho maintained that they were relevant. He objected to the amendment as signifying approval of Air Falconer's motion. —Air VV. Allan (Taieri) said that the grading theory was not properly understood, and he thought the matter should be postponed, and consideration deferred till next annual meeting.—Air J. Loudon (Kaikorai) said bis club was almost unanimously against grading. Ho also thought consideration should he deierred. —Air C. it. Smith said lie was willing that consideration should be deferred, but he would like an instruction (riven to the Centre Executive to draw up a scheme to be submitted at a future meeting of bowlers The final conclusion arrived at was—“ That consideration be deterred till next annual meeting, a general meeting of bowlers to be called during the playing season to consider the question.” Mr W. Allan (Taieri) moved— That the present system o: playing interclub matches be continued, sudjeefc, however, to this modification :• That lor the purpose ot calculating banner points the aggregate number of points for and against earn club on each Saturday shall bo taken into account, instead of the number of sections won and lost; a majority to count 2 points, a lie 1, and a minority 0.” 'The mover said that his resolution din rot mean any interference with the present system ot play, hut would merely remove one or two incongruities, which he proceeded to state. As 'regarded dates for tournaments, Mr Eiddington moved and Mr Watson (Balmacowon) seconded that Easter time ba adhered to; but a, motion favoring a rinks meeting at Christmas time and a pairs competition at Easter, moved by Air Rigby (Valley) and seconded by Mr J. On a vote being taken for six councillors !to represent the South Island on the : D.N.Z.8.A., Messrs Dickson and Smithson : (Christchurch), J. H. Loudon (Invercargill), ; and Glover, Mcrcor, and Hancock (Dunedin) ' wore chosen.
