PRODUCERS’-OWNED SHIPS
REAFFIRMED BY FARMERS’ CONFERENCE. ■ [Per United Press Association,] WELLINGTON, July 28. The Farmers’ Union Conference to-day on-firmed the following resolution: That conference desires, to reaffirm its policy of a producers’-owned line of ships, with a due .measure of Government representation. That, seeing that the shipping combine is disinclined to make material deduction in freights, the Dominion Executive be instructed to wait on the Prime 01 Minister to ascertain whether, and, if so, when, he is .prepared to give the necessary legislation to enable producers to make an immediate start to bring the Scheme into operation.
