Allies and by Tin key ns an official mission. Consequently it would prejudice the present negotiations and would'further delay peace with TuxGeneral Townsheml complained (hat this explanation regarding the passport was offensive. He asked if that was the proper way to treat him. Captain Geo later moved the adjournment of tho House in view of the unsatisfactory ■ nature of Hie reply; hut the Speaker refused to put tho motion on the "round that the matter was not now urgent.—A. and N.Z. (Received May 4, at 9.55 a.m.) Sir Thomas Henley, who is taking stock of tho public services, says ho finds that the Stale employs no less than 14$ per cent, of the adult male population. Tho annual wages bill amounts to £14,658,000.
