MU CHAMBERLAIN'S STATEMENT. AGREEMENT CONCLUDED IN SECRET. LONDON, May 5. (Received May 4, at 9.15 a.m.) Replying to a question inylim House of Commons, Mr Chamberlain said that the Italian Government had informed the British, Government on April 24 Umt they had concluded an agreement with, the. Constantinople Government, whereby the latter undertook to examine favorably Italian i applications for certain, concessions :iu | 'railway matters and public works in, Asia, Minor. They gave an assurance that the agreement contained no comitor-conces-fdoms on their part. 'The British wore informed at the time, of the Paris Conference that Turkey had made certain proposals to Italy, and they advised the latter to proceed with exta-emo caution; but Britain was not aware that an agreement had been concluded.
