VICTIM OF BETTING SWINDLE. TWO MEN ARRESTED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. PARTS, May 2. At tho request of tho American Embassy, detectives arrested v John Pincott (Melbourne) and Arthur Ernest Knox (a Londoner), commission agents, who left New York with 100,000 dollars. They were staying at tho Crillon, a most expensive hotel, iu Paris. Only 20,000 francs were found in their possession. The charge against thorn was not disclosed. NEW YORK, May 3, The men came to America, in 1921, in company with Eric Skogstadt, a Norwegian bank president, aboard tbo Aquitania. After a casual acquittance picked up in a Loudon bar, tho three travelled to Troy, New York State, where a. horseracing'and betting swindle resulted in Skogstadt losing 100,000 dollars. Cox and Prescott disappeared, and Skogstadt appealed to tho Norwegian Consul, who enlisted the services of tho New York Police Department, which traced tho men to Paris) whvo they were arrested.—A. and N.Z.
