REDUCING TAXATION. LONDON, May 1. (Received May 2, at 12.30 p.m.) The Budget discontinues debt redemption. Tho surplus of £40,000,000 will be devoted to reducing taxation. One shilling will be taken off the income tax, the basis of the fanners’ assessment will bo halved, del per lb will be taken off tea, and £di off postages. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
