“UPROAR WITHOUT WIT”
AUCKLAND STUDENTS REPROACHED.
[Special to the ‘ Star.']
CHRISTCHURCH, May 2,
The latest issue of the Canterbury College * Review * devotes special Attention to what is described as the* “ uproar without wit ” of the recent New Zealand University tournament debate at Auckland. An editorial note contains the warning that “ if the clement, of hooliganism occurs at debates some drastic measure, possibly the elimination of debating from (he tournament programme, will have to _ lie adopted. It is certain that the unrestricted rowdyism in its consequences is as unjust to the ‘educated rowdies' themselves as it is unfair to tiro debaters and the whole body of undergraduates in the dominion.”
