RUGBY UNION COMMITTEE. Tho weekly meeting of the committee of tho O,R.F.U. was held last evening, Mr V. G. Cavanagh (president) in the chair. The Secretary of the Canterbury,Rugby Union wrote stating that Mr G. Payne had donated a handsome trophy, in the shape of a silver-plated football, beautifully mounted, to bo known as the “ Payne Trophy,” for competition annually between the champion club teams of Otago and Canterbury.—lt was decided to agree to such match being played annually and to notify the Canterbury Union. J. Clark made application for a transfer from Zingari Club to Port Chalmers Club. •—lt was decided that tho transfer could not be granted, as it would mean a breach of the rules. D. H. Shand was granted a transfer from the Pirates to the Tnieri Rovers Club. The Secretary of the Ravcnsbourne Club wrote asking that his third grade team be transferred back to the fourth grade.— Granted. The Otago Football Association wrote making application for tho use of Carisbrook Ground on Wednesday, Juno 14, for the Otago-Australia Soccer match, and cm Saturday, June 17, for the first Soccer test match.—A deputation from the executive of tho O.F.A. waited on the meeting, Mr E. J. Anderson (president) being tho chief spokesman.— After the deputation had withdrawn the matter was referred to the Finance Committee. Tho Port Chalmers and Technical College Clubs applied to enter fourth grade teams. The Dunedin Club applied to enter an extra fourth grade team.—The three applications wero granted. Anderson presided at tho meeting of the executive of the Otago Football Association. Air George Forbes waited 1 on the meeting in reference to a challenge cup which Messrs Peter Dawsons, Ltd., wish to present* to the Otago Football Association, to be played for by teams in the South Island.—The Chairman thanked All - Forbes, and informed him that when the executive had decided as to how the cup was to be competed for the matter would bo referred to him for his approval. The acting-secretary of the Otago Harbor Board wrote offering the use of an area for football at the rear of tho Cement Works. —Left to Mr Deuchrass to arrange. An application by Old Boys to have their fourth, grade team transferred to tho third grade to take up tho bye was agreed to. Mr L. H. Scott, delegate to tho annual meeting of the N.Z.F.A., submitted a. full report of the meeting. In connection with the visit of tho Australian team, the matches to be played in Dunedin would be against an (Jtago cloven on Juno 14 and a test match against a New Zealand team on June 17. Mr Scott reported that it. was impossible to arrange for a match at Kaitangata. Mr Irvine brought up the question of referees’ expenses in out-of-town matches. —lt was decided to pay expenses for hist Saturday’s games at Mosgiel, Waitati, and Scaoliff, and further consideration of the matter was deferredto next Alonday’s meeting. it was decided to grant a football to those schools, playing Soccer football. a vote of thanks for past services rendered by Air Baker, Y.AI.C.A. representative, who has removed to Christchurch, was carried, Air Baker to be advised by the secretary.
