WARRINGTON AMENITIES SOCIETY
A meeting of the above society was held in the office of Mr J. L. Salmond on Tuesday. The following members were elected a committee:—Messrs J. L. SaJmond (chairman), Dr Falconer, David Barron, W. Smith, D. Baehop, C. Stanley Smith, H. Conper, W. M‘Lachlan, David Phillips, J. C. Stephens, S. M. Park, A. Hudson, and A. Barnett. Mr 11. D. W. Brewer was elected secretary. The meeting passed a vote of sympathy to the relatives of the late Mr E. S. Paterson, who for years acted as secretary. Mr Adam Paterson was elected a life member of the society for the work which ho had done for the society and the interest he had taken in it.
A general discussion took place on the advisability of improving the approaches to the beach, and it was decided immediately to take steps to plant trees, and erect seats in the playing park, generously donated by Mr C. R. Howden. _ It was resolved to write to the Waikouaiti County' Council complaining about wandering cattle destroying fences and about the grass on tha roadsides. The following were recommended to the Government for appointment as members of the Domain Board:—Dr Falconer, Messrs David Barron, Henry Turner, J.’ C. Stephens. C. Stanley Smith, J. L. Salmond, and H. D. W. Brewer. The board intends to plant marram grass on the foreshore and generally to control the beach.
