The __ quarterly evangelistic meeting of the North-east Valley branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was hold in the Institute on Thursday afternoon. In the absence of the president (Mrs Peart), who is representing the union at the convention at Hamilton, Miss Lowe (vice-president) presided. The meeting was opened with praise. (Miss Lowe took the Scripture reading from Exodus xxxiii. She gave a short address, taking as her text verse 14, afterwards engaging in prayer. Captain Qrindlay gave an address to workers, for which he was heartily thanked. The remainder of the time was spent in discussing business, much of it of great importance in the work of the campaign. Miss Lowe explained that a table of vegetables in the hall had been supplied by friends, and would be sold after the meeting, the proceeds of the sale to ho devoted to the fighting fund.
