TRAMWAY ENGINEER
AUCKLAND MAN APPOINTED,
The Tramways Committee of the City Councii report that twenty-eight applications were received for tho position of tramway engineer, and that Mr C. W. Payne, at present of Auckland, has been appointed on trial for a period of six months.
Mr Payne is thirty-nine years of age, and has had tho following experience—viz. Assistant tramways engineer, Sunderland district electric tramways, .throe years and a-half; charge engineer, Tcignmouth Corporation Electricity Works, live years; chief electrical engineer, Dublin and Lucan electric tramways, four years and a-half; and resident tramways engineer. Colombo electric tramways, five years and a-half. He will arrange to take Up his duties immediately.
