TAIERI COUNTY COUNCIL
At yesterday’s meeting of the Taieri County Council, when Cr Bla.cldo presided, the following business was twneacted: ■ In response to tho various applications before tho council it was resolved : —To dean up Bedford Barn-do footpath at Briehton on tho conditions stated in A. F. Knowles’s application ; to attend to the cutting of weeds on Main street at Outram; to 'decline tho requests of i. Cai" rutbers, Middicmarch, to reduce the widdi of proposed road lino Ixitweeft sections 4 and 5, block 9, Strath Taieri, as the council did “not possess the statutory powers to do so. . ~ , ■ Tho employers’ liability accident insurance was divided 1 lie tween the Government and the Commercial Offices. Mr Mcsscnt appeared before the council to advocate, the licensing of hawkers doing business within the county. —It was decided that tho position bo coneidereil with a view to licensing hawkers. The Engineer reported that the streets of Brighton, had been surfaced throughout. and that tho gravel .Required for repairs would be quarried and delivered next month. A contract had been let to Wm. Casey for carting tho metal crushed at Mosgicl to depots on the Main South road.'
