CRICKET. Rain at Invercargill this morning prevented a resumption of the senior and junior High Schools’ matches, which were drawn. An enjoyable game of cricket was played at Mornington on Anniversary Day between teams representing John Edmond, Ltd., and Paterson and Barr, Ltd, The latter won by 15 runs on tho first innings. FOOTBALL. Zingari-Riclimond Club will hold a practice at Montecillo to-morrow —for juniors at 2 o’clock, and for seniors at 3. Pirates will hold a practice at Tahuna Park to-morrow afternoon. Kailcorai will practise at Bishopecourt •to-morrow afternoon. OTAGO MOTOR CLUB. A special committee meeting of tho Otago Motor Club was held on Thursday evening to consider tho results of the car hill climb held recently. It was decided to disalow both the second climbs of the Austin and tho Studebaker. Mr H. Halliday (timekeeper) justified his action in allowing the Austin a second trial by stating that the door of the car was not properly closed, and flew open while going through the cutting. The driver’s attention was distracted, and ho tried to close tho door, and in doing so partly lost control - of his car. The award now stands Partol and Boag (-Morris Orford), 3min 4|scc, 159 1 P. To-morrow evening, at tho Municipal Baths, the officials appointed for the schools swimming championship carnival will endeavor to run of! twenty-eight events in the space of two and a-half hours. Tho programme includes tho boys’ diving championship, in which- forty competitors will contest tho honors. Arthur Street School (present holders of tho Begg Cup) has entered a small but very proficient team of swimmers, and it will take all tho efforts of other schools to wrest the cup from them. Nevertheless, nearly every school has a strong team entered. The primary schools championship of Otago races should be an interesting competition. There aro four races in tbo competition, each being a different distance.
