ELECTION NEWS
Mr T. M. Wilford, Leader of The United Liberal .Party, left Timaru yesterday for Temuka.
In consequence of Mr J. Craigie, M.P. for Timaru, seconding tho Address in Reply for the Reform Government, Mr Wilford asked him whether ho intended to stand in tho Reform interests or for the now party next diction. Mr Craigie replied that he would stand as an Independent. Mr Wilford then met representatives of local men, and made arrangements for tho selection of a candidate for his party. Names of well-known and prominent citizens were suggested, hut ho preferred to leave final selection till full inquiries had been made. Mr Craigie never joined tho new party.
